Our modular system treats fuel safely, cleanly, and effectively.
BurnBot integrates ignition, containment, smoke filtering, and mop-up in a continuous sequence.
This system allows for safe, clean, and cost-effective controlled fire-based fuel treatment in any weather and on a variety of terrain.
Safe Containment
Similar to a Zamboni, BurnBot processes only the enclosed region below it to safely and precisely burn areas at the tree lines, directly adjacent to homes, structures, or other high-value assets. Ignition of the unwanted fuels is done using an array of high-temperature torches while the flames and embers are fully contained within its “fire box” to ensure no risk of escape fire. The high burn temperature creates less smoke than existing methods such as drip torches, which use noxious accelerants such as diesel fuel or gasoline.
Smoke Mitigation
BurnBot also has a smoke capture and filtration system to mitigate the release of smoke into the atmosphere. As BurnBot passes over an area it has burned, it extinguishes any remaining flame or embers behind itself, further ensuring safety.
Modular System
The BurnBot platform can be further ruggedized to access steep grades, and rough terrain. It can also carry additional tools, such as brush cutters, to allow it to penetrate thick vegetation, a mulcher and/or a crusher/tamper to break down and compress any partially burned material to reduce oxygenation, and therefore reduce future risk of ignition.
BurnBot protects property by systematic contained pre-burning of volatile fuels.
BurnBot is designed to:
-
1
Enclose and confine the burn area so all processes are done in a completely controlled space.
-
2
Ignite the burn area at high temperature to consume the fuel rapidly.
-
3
Contain the flames and any embers that are produced to prevent any chance of runaway fire.
-
4
Contain, trap and filter out the smoke so that very little or no smoke is released into the air.
-
5
Extinguish any remaining flame and/or coals that are smoldering to ensure no fire will propagate.
-
6
Mulch any leftover burned plant material.
-
7
Compact the mulched material so there is less access to air to ensure reignition will not happen easily.
